Chulus:

Colorful, finely made "chulus" (stocking caps) are hand-made by the folks from the North Potosi region of Bolivia.  They are usually made of wool that is spun into a fine-gauge yarn that produces a cap that is very tightly knit and without a fuzzy, "wool" texture we are   Chulus are decorative, dress garb for the men of the Altiplano and are decorated with a multitude of colors as well as with a variety of geometric and zoomorphic designs.  Although one could well imagine zooming down the slopes in one of these masterpieces, they would work better as decorations or children's caps rather than as adult wear.  This is because the men of the Andean highlands wear such caps on top of their heads rather than over them - thus, authentic chulus are smaller than the average adult head.
